Gutter Cleaning in Massachusetts

Clogged gutters are how a $100 job turns into a wet basement or rotted fascia. We clear them by hand, flush the downspouts, tighten what's loose and take the debris with us — $45/hour with a $75 minimum and a free written estimate first.

What's included in a gutter cleaning

  • Debris removed by hand from every run of gutter
  • Downspouts flushed and cleared so water actually drains
  • Check for leaks, loose hangers and separated seams
  • Minor resealing and re-securing of loose sections
  • All debris bagged and hauled away — nothing left on your lawn
  • Photos of the finished gutters after the visit

$45/hour

Same straightforward labor rate as the rest of our work, with a $75 minimum per visit. Single-story versus two-story is a difference in time, not in rate.

Free written estimate

Larger homes, long runs and gutters that are packed solid get quoted after we see the roofline — you approve the number before we set a ladder up.

When to clean gutters in New England

Spring — April to June

Clears the winter load: shingle grit, pollen, seed pods and everything that packed down under snow. Best time to catch a hanger or seam that let go over the winter.

Fall — late October to early December

The important one in New England. Once the leaves are down, gutters need to be clear before the first freeze or trapped water turns into ice dams along the roof edge.

Skipped seasons show up as ice dams along the roof edge, water running down the siding, soaked basements and rotted fascia boards — all far more expensive than the cleaning.

Signs your gutters need attention now

  • Water sheeting over the edge during rain instead of running to the downspout
  • Plants or grass growing out of the gutter
  • Dark streaks or staining down the siding below the gutter line
  • Sagging sections or gutters pulling away from the fascia
  • Water pooling next to the foundation — a common cause of wet basements
  • Ice dams and heavy icicles along the roof edge each winter

Handle it in one visit

We're already on the property with ladders and tools, so the small exterior items usually get done the same day — loose trim, a sagging downspout, a soffit repair, exterior touch-up paint.

Gutter cleaning questions

How much does gutter cleaning cost in Massachusetts?+

We bill gutter cleaning at our standard $45 per hour with a $75 minimum per visit. A typical single-story home is a short visit; two-story homes and long, heavily clogged runs take more time. You get a free written estimate before we start, so there are no surprises.

Is a two-story home more expensive?+

Only because it takes longer — the hourly rate is the same. Higher rooflines mean more ladder setups and repositioning, so we quote the time after seeing photos or the property.

How often should gutters be cleaned?+

Twice a year for most Massachusetts homes — spring and late fall. If you have mature oaks, maples or pines over the roof, a third visit mid-fall keeps them from packing solid.

Do you haul the debris away?+

Yes. Everything we pull out is bagged and taken with us. We don't leave piles on the lawn or in your bins.

Can you fix problems you find up there?+

We handle minor repairs on the spot — re-securing loose hangers, resealing seams, reattaching a downspout. Anything bigger gets photographed and quoted before we touch it.

Which towns do you cover?+

Brockton, Boston, Quincy, Randolph, Stoughton and the surrounding South Shore and Greater Boston towns.
